The Lector’s Workbook for the new Liturgical Year, beginning with Advent, is now available in the upper Sacristy for Lectors to pick up. Please sign in when you pick up a copy. The workbooks are for those who proclaim at Sunday Mass only.
This Tuesday, November 22, there will be a Solemn Mass honoring Saint Cecilia, patron saint of music and musicians, at 7PM in the Upper Church, followed by refreshments in the Parish Institute. This celebration will be in Spanish and will include live music with Mariachi. All parishioners are welcome to attend.
This coming Thursday, in observance of Thanksgiving Day, there will be ONLY ONE SOLEMN MASS at 9AM in the Upper Church. On Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, there will ALSO BE ONLY ONE MASS at 9AM in the Upper Church. At the conclusion of the Rosary following the Mass on both days, BOTH the church and the parish office will be closed until Saturday morning.
Next Sunday, our parish’s Vietnamese community will celebrate their 35th Anniversary with a Solemn Mass of Thanksgiving in English at 3PM, presided by Bishop Witold Mroziewski, Vicar for Migrants and Ethnic Apostolates. After the Mass, there will be a street procession of the Relics of the Vietnamese Martyrs, accompanied by the Queens Latin Band and the Mariachi Youth Band of our parish. Following the procession, all are invited to the Parish Institute for a formal reception featuring international food, cultural and music performances. The Holy Father Pope Francis has granted a Plenary Indulgence to all who will participate in this joyous event.
Our 15th annual “Giving Tree” Donation Boxes to help parishioners in need this Christmas will start next weekend, November 26th and be available through Sunday, January 1st. One box will be by the main entrance on Newtown Avenue and the other will be by the elevator. Donations in cash, checks made out to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, or gift cards are all welcomed. Any donations made during the week, please bring to the Rectory.
On Saturday, December 3, the Rosary Society will hold their First Annual Christmas Fundraiser Luncheon for charitable causes this Christmas season from 2:00PM-5:00PM in the Institute. The cost is $40 per person and will include a Hot Buffet Lunch featuring wine and beer. We will raffle assorted gift baskets, and there will also be a 50/50. Payments in cash or check payable to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church will be accepted at the parish office. All are invited. Bring a friend!
