Sunday Announcements – July 24, 2022

This weekend, the Feast of Saint James the Apostle is solemnly celebrated in our parish.  As an early disciple of Jesus, St. James shares a close relationship with the Lord. He was present at all important events in Jesus’s ministry. After the Lord’s ascension, he went to the Iberian Peninsula to preach the Good News. He was the first of the Apostles to be martyred. Today, St. James is especially venerated in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, and among our Hispanic communities.  May this Feast inspire all of us to greater zeal and faith.

Registration is open for our Religious Education Program, with classes starting in September. All children are required to participate in the program in order to receive the Sacraments.  Please contact our parish office to register your child as soon as possible.

Next Saturday, July 30, from 1PM to 5PM, our Vocation Committee is sponsoring a special event for all boys and girls ages 12 to 17. This event will begin with a Holy Hour of Adoration, with Reflection and Benediction by Father Chris Bethge, Diocesan Vocations Director, followed by lunch and a discussion on the theme of “Mutual Respect-We Are Wonderfully Made”, and sports activities.  Please encourage your children to attend this wonderful event.

Also, next Saturday, July 30, the American Italian Cancer Foundation will be providing no costs mammograms at our parish from 9:00am to 4:30pm.  All women are invited to take advantage of this benefit.

We are happy to report that, to date, 177 parishioners have pledged a total of $62,027 to the Annual Catholic Appeal, of which $51,962 have already been collected. We thank those who have donated and invite all to consider joining us in this worthy cause. Donation envelopes are available at the church entrances for your convenience.
