Happy Mother’s Day! May all mothers, living and deceased, be blessed by God for their love and sacrifices, and may they find love and gratitude on this day of appreciation.

This Thursday, May 18, is the Solemnity of the Lord’s Ascension into Heaven.  It is also a Holy Day of Obligation. Solemn Masses will be offered at 8AM, 12 Noon, and 7:30PM, all in the main Church.

We are grateful to the parishioners who have begun to return your donation envelopes after Msgr. Pham’s Appeal last weekend for the Annual Catholic Appeal. We have invited all families to prayerfully consider making a pledge or a one-time gift to this worthy cause. We are happy to report that, to date, 88 parishioners have pledged a total of $32,615, of which $25,606 has been collected. Any donations above our parish’s goal of $67,815 will be returned directly to us for physical improvements that will benefit us and our future generations. Envelopes are still available at the church doors.

We congratulate 49 of our children who received their First Holy Communion, and 25 young people who received the Sacrament of Confirmation this past weekend. We have proudly printed their names in the bulletin this weekend.

Registration is now open for Religious Education classes starting in September. For new registrations, please pick up an application at the parish office. If you have children that are already in the program this year, please ask for a re-registration form.

In response to the urgent needs of many migrants who are arriving our city, Bishop Brennan has generously allowed the City of New York’s Emergency Service to use the vacant space at our former Chapel of St. Margaret Mary as a temporary Welcome Center, where migrants will be legally processed before moving on to other places. The entire program is funded and run by the City of New York. In lending them the use of our space, however, the Church is living out Christ’s command of love in a concrete way. Let us pray that our leaders will soon find a good solution for this situation.
