DECEMBER 17, 2023

We warmly thank our young members of our CCD Program for their donations. Our heartfelt thanks for your acts of kindness this week.

We also express our profound gratitude to Father Hung Tran and everyone who contributed to the remarkable success of our Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and the Blessing of the Outdoor Manger this past Thursday. This event witnessed the highest attendance ever, thanks to the efforts of those who prepared and adorned the Manger Scene, the Choirs who offered their voices in song, and the individuals and groups who provided refreshments. Over 350 toys, courtesy of our Police Precinct and Deacon Ruben Mendez’s ministry, were gifted to our young members. We trust this event has spread the joy of Christmas throughout our parish and neighborhood.

Let us also remember our fellow parishioners who are in need during this festive season. You can contribute by donating to our Christmas Giving Boxes until January 1st. These boxes are located in both the main and side vestibules of the church. We accept cash, checks made out to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, or gift cards.

This Monday, December 18, is Reconciliation Monday across New York City and Long Island. All Catholic churches will welcome the faithful for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Our chapel will host confessions from 11AM to 12 Noon, and then from 7PM to 8PM. We encourage everyone to join and embrace God’s gift of healing and peace.

Upcoming Event: On Christmas Eve, December 24th, at 9:30 PM, our parish choir will delight us with a Christmas music concert, featuring compositions from the 15th to 21st century, performed in various languages. The concert will include performances by the English choir, the Mount Carmel String Trio, and professional percussionists. This enchanting holiday tradition is open to all, free of charge. Following the concert, we invite you to the 10:00 PM Christmas Eve Mass in English.

In observance of Christmas, the parish office will be closed on December 25th and 26th, and will reopen on Wednesday, December 27th.
