Thanks to the generosity of 177 individuals and families who contributed to the Annual Catholic Appeal 2024, we have surpassed our goal of $67,815 and reached $72,070. Any amount over the goal will be returned to our parish to support much-needed repairs and improvements to our church facility. You can still join us in this important mission by taking home a special envelope found at the church entrance.
This past week, our parish celebrated two significant events: the solemn Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe and the Lighting of the Christmas Tree with the Blessing of the New Manger. These joyous occasions required extensive preparation and organization, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who dedicated their time and efforts to make them such a success.
On Sunday, the Jornada Youth Movement is sponsoring a special Movie Night featuring Home Alone. Doors open at 6:00 PM, and the movie will begin at 6:30 PM in the Institute. Food and beverages will be available for purchase—come enjoy a fun evening!
This Monday, December 16th, is Reconciliation Monday across all Catholic Churches in the New York metropolitan area. Our priests will be available in the lower chapel to hear confessions from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM and again in the evening from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Take this opportunity to experience the Lord’s forgiving love.
On Tuesday, December 17th, at 7:00 PM in the chapel, all Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, and Ushers are invited to a special one-hour Advent Prayer Meeting, which will include updates on liturgical norms and practices as directed by our Bishop. Please make plans to attend.
On Christmas Eve, December 24th, our parish will present a concert of Christmas music at 9:30 PM, just before the principal Christmas Eve Mass at 10:00 PM. The concert will feature the English choir and the Mount Carmel String Trio, performing uplifting music from the 12th to the 21st centuries in several languages. Admission is free, and all are warmly invited.
This Christmas, you can honor or memorialize a loved one by sponsoring a fresh evergreen wreath for $35. These wreaths will adorn the church’s exterior, creating a festive and prayerful atmosphere for the holiday season. To reserve a wreath, complete the form in the bulletin or visit the parish office by Friday, December 20.
We are also hosting a Giving Box Campaign to support parishioners and children in need. Donations of cash, checks payable to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, or gift cards, can be placed in the giving boxes located in the church vestibules. Thank you for making this Christmas brighter for those in need.
