We are grateful for your generous contribution to the 2nd collection today in support of our Diocesan Missions. Your donations will help sustain the many missions that are sponsored by our own Diocese of Brooklyn among poorer regions of the world, especially in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

We are also grateful to those who made donations to the Christmas Giving Box this year.  Your gifts have been distributed to a number of families and children in need.  Thank you for giving them a brighter Christmas season.

Next Sunday, January 15, our parish will be hosting a Blood Drive from 9:15AM until 3:15PM in the Gym. We invite everyone who is eligible for blood donation to participate in this worthy cause. Your donation will help save many lives!

Next Monday, January 16, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Day, a federal holiday, there will be ONLY ONE Mass at 9AM in the Upper Church. Once the recitation of the Rosary after that Mass is over, the church and parish office will be closed for the rest of the day and will reopen on Tuesday, January 17.

El próximo lunes, 16 de enero, en conmemoración del Día del Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., un feriado federal, habrá SOLO UNA Misa a las 9AM aqui en la Iglesia arriba. Una vez que termine el rezo del Rosario después de esa Misa, la iglesia y la oficina parroquial estarán cerradas por el resto del día y reabrirán el martes, 17 de enero.

This Monday, January 2nd is the last day to participate in our parish’s “Giving Tree” tradition. You can still make a donation to help parishioners who are in need this season. The donation box is found by the main entrance of the Upper Church and by the elevator. Your generosity will help someone with a brighter Christmas season.

Also, this Monday, January 2nd, there will be ONLY ONE Mass at 9AM in the Upper Church. Once the recitation of the Rosary after that Mass is over, the church and parish office will be closed for the rest of the day. Please note that all weekday Masses will resume in the Lower Church beginning Tuesday, January 3rd.  

Please note that starting this Sunday, THERE WILL NO LONGER BE A 5PM MASS ON SUNDAY. We invite those who have been attending Mass at that time to consider joining us at other times when a Sunday Mass is offered in English. We thank you for your kind understanding concerning this change.

In keeping with updated diocesan protocols and practice, beginning with the New Year, we will start reducing the number of livestreamed Sunday Masses. As the Church is encouraging people to attend Mass in person, we will continue to livestream the main Sunday Masses for the sake of the homebound parishioners.  Weekday livestreaming services will remain unchanged.

En nombre de nuestro Párroco, Monseñor Pham, los sacerdotes y el personal de nuestra parroquia, nos gustaría desearles a todos un bendecido y feliz Año Nuevo, lleno de buena salud, gracias y paz. 

Este lunes, 2 de enero es el último día para participar en la tradición de “Giving Tree” de nuestra parroquia. Todavía puede hacer una donación para ayudar a los feligreses que lo necesitan esta temporada. Una caja de donaciones se encuentra junto a la entrada principal de la Iglesia arriba y la otra caja junto al ascensor. Su generosidad ayudará a alguien con una temporada navideña más brillante.

Además, este lunes 2 de enero, habrá SOLO UNA Santa Misa a las 9AM en la Iglesia arriba. Una vez que termine el rezo del Rosario después de esta Misa, la iglesia y la oficina parroquial estarán cerradas por el resto del día. Tenga en cuenta que todas las Misas de lunes a viernes se reanudarán en la Iglesia abajo a partir del martes, 3 de enero.

La Hermandad del Sagrado Corazón de Jesùs les invita el dia 6 de Enero a una hora Santa a las 6:30pm  y Santa Eucaristia a las 7:30 en la iglesia abajo.

Tenga en cuenta que a partir de este domingo, YA NO HABRÁ MISA DE 5PM. Invitamos a aquellos que han estado asistiendo esa Santa misa a que consideren unirse a nosotros en otras misa que se ofrezen en inglés. Le agradecemos su amable comprensión con respecto a este cambio.

De acuerdo con los protocolos y prácticas diocesanos actualizados, a partir del Año Nuevo, comenzaremos a reducir la cantidad de misas dominicales transmitidas en vivo. A medida que la Iglesia alienta a las personas a asistir a Misa en persona, continuaremos transmitiendo en vivo las principales Misas dominicales por el bien de los feligreses confinados en sus hogares. On behalf of our Pastor, Msgr. Pham, the priests, and the staff of our parish, we wish everyone in our parish family a blessed and Merry Christmas.  May the Infant Lord bring you the gift of joy and peace and may the Holy Family watch over you with divine protection in this holiday season. 

We also wish to thank all the volunteers from our Hispanic and Vietnamese community who have worked very hard with Father Hung Tran in the work of decorating the Church this year for Christmas. Your sacrifice of time, talent and treasure has been truly appreciated by all.

Our “Giving Tree” tradition to help parishioners who are in need this Christmas will conclude on January 2nd. Please find one donation box by the main entrance of the Upper Church and the other by the elevator. Your generosity in this season of giving will go a long way in giving someone a brighter Christmas season.

En nombre de nuestro Párroco, Monseñor Pham, los sacerdotes y el personal de nuestra parroquia, nos gustaría desearles a todos en nuestra familia parroquial una feliz y bendecida Navidad. Que el Señor Infante les traiga todo el regalo de la alegría y la paz y que la Sagrada Familia los cuide con la protección divina en esta temporada festiva.

También queremos agradecer a todos los voluntarios de nuestra comunidad hispana y vietnamita que han trabajado arduamente con el Padre Hung Tran en el trabajo de decoración de la Iglesia este año para Navidad. Su sacrificio de tiempo, talento y tesoro ha sido verdaderamente apreciado por todos.

Nuestra tradición del “árbol de donaciones” para ayudar a los feligreses que los necesitan esta Navidad continuará hasta el 2 de enero. Una caja de donaciones esta junto a la entrada principal de la Iglesia arriba y la otra junto al ascensor. On Sunday, December 18, Bishop Robert Brennan will come to preside at our 10:30AM Czech Mass in the lower church. The Mass will be in English.  All are invited to attend to extend a warm welcome to our Bishop, the chief Shepherd of our Diocese.

MONDAY, December 19, is Reconciliation Monday throughout the City of New York and Long Island. All Catholic churches will be open for the faithful to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Confessions will be heard in our lower church from 11AM to 1PM and again from 6PM to 8PM. Come to experience God’s forgiving love and healing.  

We are happy to announce that a beloved holiday tradition will return to our parish this year, namely, the Christmas Eve Concert. Next Saturday, December 24th, at 9:30PM in the upper church, there will be a live performance of sacred music in a variety of styles, from the 15th to the 21st century in several languages.  Featuring the English Choir, the Mount Carmel String Trio and Choir Percussionists, this beautiful rendition is sure to put everyone in the true spirit of the season. Please note that the Concert will begin at 9:30PM, followed by Christmas Eve Mass at 10:00PM.

Our envelope company has mistakenly sent out the January 1st donation envelope twice – with the last set of envelopes for this year, and the first set for next year. Please use only ONE envelope for your contribution on January 1st and discard the other. 

On Monday, December 26, in observance of the Christmas holiday, there will be only one Mass at 9AM in the upper church. The parish office will be closed and will reopen on Tuesday, December 27.

ESTE LUNES, 19 de diciembre, es el Lunes de Reconciliación en toda la ciudad de Nueva York y Long Island. Todas las iglesias católicas estarán abiertas para que los fieles celebren el Sacramento de la Reconciliación. Las confesiones se escucharán en nuestra iglesia abajo de 11 am a 1 pm y nuevamente de 6 pm a 8 pm. Venga a experimentar el amor perdonador y la sanidad de Dios.

Nos complace anunciar que una querida tradición festiva regresará a nuestra parroquia este año, el Concierto de Nochebuena. El próximo sábado 24 de diciembre, a las 9:30 pm, aqui, en la iglesia arriba, habrá una actuación en directo de música sacra en varios estilos, del siglo quince al ventiuno en varios idiomas. Con el coro inglés, el trío de cuerdas de Monte Carmelo y los percusionistas del coro, esta hermosa interpretación seguramente pondrá a todos en el verdadero espíritu de la temporada. Tenga en cuenta que el Concierto comenzará a las 9:30 p.m., seguido de la Misa de Nochebuena a las 10:00 p.m.

Nuestra empresa de sobres envió por error el sobre de donación del primero de enero dos veces: el último juego de sobres para este año y el primero para el próximo año. Use solo UN sobre para su contribución el primero de enero y deseche el otro.

El lunes 26 de diciembre, en observancia del feriado de Navidad, habrá solo una misa a las 9 a.m. en la iglesia aqui arriba. La oficina parroquial estará cerrada y reabrirá el martes 27 de diciembre.

Monday, December 12, will be the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas and Pre-born Children. Our parish will observe this major feast with devotional prayer services sponsored by various Hispanic ministries throughout the night before. These celebrations will culminate in a Solemn Street Procession with the Guadalupe Torch at 5:30PM and a Solemn Mass with Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio at 6:30PM, followed by festivity in the Institute.

This Tuesday, December 13, you are invited to our Christmas Tree Lighting at 7PM. Join us as we kick off the holiday season in front of the Rectory! There will be live performances by the various choirs of our parish and the Mariachi Youth Band, a visit from Santa Claus, Special Blessings and toy gifts for all children. Hot refreshments will be served. Bring your family and friends!

This year, the theme for our parish’s outdoor Christmas decoration is “Christ Our Light.” We invite you to engage this theme of light by donating a Christmas tree to our church, either as a way to honor a cherished person, or to honor a family, a group or a ministry that have a special meaning to you. Each tree will be elegantly decorated with lights and will grace the gardens around the outdoor Nativity scenes for the entire season of Christmas. Each tree will also have a memorial tag with the names of the donor and the person who is memorialized.

Our “Giving Tree” Donation Boxes to benefit families with needs this Christmas are available by the main church entrance on Newtown Avenue and by the elevator. Donations in cash, checks made out to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, or gift cards, are all welcome. 

 

Our Youth Ministry is conducting a Charity Drive to help poor migrant families in our neighborhood with basic hygiene, food and baby items. Please see their special flyer for specific items that you may donate during the week.

12 de diciembre, será la Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, Patrona de las Américas y del Niño Pre Nacido. Nuestra parroquia observará esta gran fiesta con servicios devocionales de oración patrocinados por varios ministerios hispanos durante esta noche. Estas celebraciones culminarán con una Solemne Procesión Callejera con la Antorcha de Guadalupe a las 5:30p.m. y una Solemne Misa con el Obispo Nicholas DiMarzio a las 6:30p.m., seguida de una festividad en el Instituto. 

Este martes 13 de diciembre, están invitados a nuestro encendido anual del árbol de Navidad a las 7p.m. ¡Únase a nosotros para comenzar la temporada navideña con la iluminación del Árbol de Navidad y la nueva escena de la Natividad frente a la Rectoría! Habrá presentaciones en vivo de los diversos coros de nuestra parroquia y la Banda Juvenil de Mariachi, una visita de Santa Claus, Bendiciones Especiales y regalos de juguetes para todos los niños. Se servirán refrescos calientes. 

Este año, el tema de la decoración navideña al aire libre de nuestra parroquia es “Cristo nuestra luz.” Lo invitamos a involucrarse en este tema de la luz donando un árbol de Navidad a nuestra iglesia, ya sea como una forma de honrar a una persona querida, una familia, o un ministerio que tiene un significado especial para ustedes. Cada árbol estará elegantemente decorado con luces y adornará los jardines alrededor de los belenes al aire libre. Cada árbol también tendrá una etiqueta conmemorativa con los nombres del donante y la persona conmemorada.
