VOCATIONS FAIR - FEBRUARY 11th
YEAR OF VOCATIONS
Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio has declared that in Brooklyn and Queens we will celebrate a “Year of Vocations,” starting Friday, August 4th, the feast of St John Vianney, the patron saint of Parish Priests. The theme of the year will be “Reawaken the Call.” The goal of the year is to inspire our young people, who are flooding our streets, communities, schools, parishes, youth groups by “Reawakening the Call” within them. And so, by extension “Reawaken the Call” in all of us who are living out our vocations; so that we may create a healthier environment for vocations to be considered, encouraged, nourished and responded. We encourage everyone to enter into this “Year of Vocations” with a commitment of an interior renewal for a stronger and more effective witness to the gospel in Brooklyn. We will have a variety of events during the year, please check the bulletin for information in our “Vocations Station” weekly feature for all events.
Please note that we will have a “Vocations Prayer Group” which will meet every Sunday for a year starting on Sunday, August 6th at 9AM in the upper church.
JUBILEE HOLY YEAR OF MERCY
We are honored to have been selected as one of six parishes designated by the Diocese of Brooklyn to having a Holy Door for the Jubilee Holy Year of Mercy during our 175th anniversary year as a parish.
Our diocesan newspaper, The Tablet, sent reporter Maria-Pia Negro Chin to cover the blessing and opening of the Holy Door of Mercy which took place on December 13, 2015 with a beautiful mass led by our main celebrant, Bishop Octavio Cisneros. Below is a picture of Bishop Cisneros opening our Holy Door. Here is the link to the complete photo album: (CLICK HERE)
Thank you to Mrs. Negro Chin and The Tablet for allowing us to post these pictures.
