Early Childhood and Elementary Catholic Education is alive and well in Long Island City/Astoria/Woodside.  Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church is officially affiliated with St. Joseph Catholic Academy in Long Island City.  Please follow the link to learn more about the programs, registration information and tuition at the Academy.  Pastor, Msgr. Sean G. Ogle, serves on the Board of Members.

On December 8, 2011, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, Sean Suckiel was one of seven men ordained a transitional Deacon at the hands of Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio of the Diocese of Brooklyn. Deacon Suckiel attended the diocesan high school seminary at Cathedral Prep in Elmhurst. He then attended the diocesan college seminary residence program and St John's University and the five year program at the Major Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington where the ordination took place. His formation included a pastoral service year here at OLMC Parish in Astoria. He is a native of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish in Ridgewood, Queens. Deacon Suckiel's ordination to the priesthood is scheduled for Saturday, June 23, 2012 at St James Cathedral in Brooklyn.
