We are honored to have been selected as one of six parishes designated by the Diocese of Brooklyn to having a Holy Door for the Jubilee Holy Year of Mercy during our 175th anniversary year as a parish.
Our diocesan newspaper, The Tablet, sent reporter Maria-Pia Negro Chin to cover the blessing and opening of the Holy Door of Mercy which took place on December 13, 2015 with a beautiful mass led by our main celebrant, Bishop Octavio Cisneros. On Nov. 14, 2015, close to 500 parishioners attended the Dedication Mass and opening of the Dosquicentennial Anniversary for Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Astoria, New York. Joining Pastor, Msgr. Sean G. Ogle, V.F. and the Pastoral Team was former Pastor, Bishop Paul Sanchez as Main Celebrant and Consecrator along with favorite native son and Chief Concelebrant, Bishop Raymond Chappetto, V.G. An international food festival followed the mass in the Mount Carmel Institute.
