Early Childhood and Elementary Catholic Education is alive and well in Long Island City/Astoria/Woodside.  Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church is officially affiliated with St. Joseph Catholic Academy in Long Island City.  Please follow the link to learn more about the programs, registration information and tuition at the Academy.  Pastor, Msgr. We are honored to have been selected as one of six parishes designated by the Diocese of Brooklyn to having a Holy Door for the Jubilee Holy Year of Mercy during our 175th anniversary year as a parish.

Our diocesan newspaper, The Tablet, sent reporter Maria-Pia Negro Chin to cover the blessing and opening of the Holy Door of Mercy which took place on December 13, 2015 with a beautiful mass led by our main celebrant, Bishop Octavio Cisneros.  Below is a picture of Bishop Cisneros opening our Holy Door.  Here is the link to the complete photo album:  (CLICK HERE)
