Early Childhood and Elementary Catholic Education is alive and well in Long Island City/Astoria/Woodside.  Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church is officially affiliated with St. Joseph Catholic Academy in Long Island City.  Please follow the link to learn more about the programs, registration information and tuition at the Academy.  Pastor, Msgr. On Saturday, June 7, 2014, the Feast of Pentecost, our Pastor, Msgr. Sean G. Ogle, V.F. was privileged to anoint 7 people with the Sacrament of Confirmation, shown in the picture below. Also in the picture - Pastor Emeritus of Saint Margaret Mary, Father Ed Brady and Deacon Christopher R. Heanue. Pentecost is the one time in addition to the Easter Vigil that the pastor is given the faculty to confer the Sacrament of Confirmation. These candidates have been studying and preparing for this day to receive this third sacrament of initiation. May the Holy Spirit purify and illuminate these candidates as well as our entire parish so that we may grow in the holiness of the Lord. Video of the event has been posted on You Tube.
